How to Get Your Groove Back and Flaunt Yo' Shit

Do you feel like one hot damn mess? Frustrated that you've been in some funkety as funk lately? 

Listen, I get it. You're beyond ready to get your groove back so you can flaunt yo's hit and feel like your fabulous effing self!  

But how?   

It seems easier said than done, doesn't it?  

Well, lucky for you, I know a thing or two about getting your groove back, and I'm about to break them down for you Barney style right here, yo'!  

Positive Affirmations  

Mindset work is a no-brainer when it comes to getting your shit together and your groove back. If you're constantly sounding and feeling like Eeyore day in and day out, you're going to be in a constant funk!  

Change your mind, change your reality! 

First things first, what is a positive affirmation? A positive affirmation helps you eliminate self-sabotaging thoughts.

Yes, they absolutely do work! Here's a simple way to start changing your thoughts to change your reality. Write down all of the negative thoughts or beliefs that you have about yourself that are holding you back from feeling fierce, fabulous, and fun.   

After you've completed that, I want you to flip the switch so to speak and create a positive statement of truth based off of the negative statement you just wrote about yourself.  

For example, your negative statement could be, "I'm not good enough." The positive affirmation or mantra if you like a longer version of that could be, "I'm more than enough. I'm beautiful, smart, funny, and kind. What I do is enough, what I have is enough, and who I am is enough. I am enough."  

Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Now it's your turn! 

Move Your Body 

Moving your body by exercising daily can help you get out of your funk!  

You'll get the blood flowing, your endorphins will increase, you'll get in better shape, and it'll boost your confidence over time.  

That's a win-win situation right there!  

Now you don't need to go all out and exercise for hours a day. Simply commit to 30-min a day of light to moderate activity such as walking, riding a bike, jogging, or even running the stairs.   

The options are endless, but the point is to choose something you enjoy and stick to it for 90-days so that you can see the transformation in your life.  

Nutrition 

Everyone knows that eating a well-balanced, processed free, diet can improve your overall well-being. Getting the proper nutrition can benefit your mind, body, and soul!   

Focus on eating the colors of the rainbow. No not the bag of skittles you have sitting in your purse either. I'm talking about some good ol' fruits and veggies.  

Make home cooked meals that are healthy. Avoid process foods or fast food as they're only adding extra calories and probably some lovely chemicals to your body in the process.

Have Fun

When you're in a funk, more often than not it's because you're cooped up like a bear hibernating during the winter. Get your ass up off the couch, take a shower, call up your girlfriends, and have some fun!  

Do something that exhilarates and tantalizes your soul!  

Go to an amusement park, shopping, a movie, wine tasting or whatever else trips your trigger.   

Life is too short to sit at home; binge-watching chick flicks on Netflix while devouring a gallon of ice cream. That look only works in the movies and not in real life.  

The point is, get up and do something that ignites the passion burning inside of you. Have fun!  

Friends and Family

You have friends and family that love you. Whatever you do, don't shut them out while you're in your depressive catatonic state. Lean on them, ask for support, a shoulder to cry on, or an ear to listen.   

Sometimes being around those that love you the most despite you being a royal pain in the ass is exactly what you need to snap out of the funk you're in.  

Call on them to be there for you and to be your support system. Perhaps one of them can give you some perspective or great advice. Who knows, it's worth a shot, right? You won't be any worse off than you are right now. Why not give it a whirl? 

When the going gets tough, and life hands you some lemons, well darling, grab some damn limes, salt, and vodka and make yourself some margaritas!  

Life isn't always going to be perfect, but there are ways you can get your groove back and flaunt yo' bad self. With these five ways, you're already on your way to shakin' your shit and being the badass woman that you are.
