Three Tips to Care for Your Skin

Three Tips to Care for Your Skin

Perhaps you've been told a thousand times before that taking care of your skin is important. Maybe you even understand the importance, but you're not sure where to begin when it comes to caring for your skin.

If you resonate with either statement, you're in luck! Let's talk about three ways you can care for your skin and turn back the hands of time.

Healthy Living

This really should go without saying, but one of the first things you should consider doing to care for your skin is to adapt to a healthy lifestyle.

A healthy lifestyle?

Yup, eat right, move more and drink lots of water! The skin is the largest organ of the body. Why wouldn't you want to care for it?

Therefore, eat healthy by eating more fruits and veggies, lean meats, and healthy grains. Avoid processed foods, sugars, and sodas.

Drink the recommended daily intake of water to stay hydrated. Your skin will look like a million bucks when you take care of it from the inside out!

Lastly, be sure to manage your stress as part of your healthy lifestyle. The more worry and stress, the more fine lines and wrinkles you have.

Protect the Skin

Protecting your skin doesn't have to be a challenge. Wearing sunscreen is essential to keeping your skin from aging. It's a misconception by many that you don't need to wear any sunblock on cloudy days or during the Fall or Winter months. Wrong! You need to wear it daily and all year long.

Wear protective clothing that's right for the season. In the summer, wear wide-brimmed hats. Layer your clothing to block the sun and look into investing in special laundry soap that provides a UV protective layer to block the sun's harmful rays.

Avoid being outside in the sun during the hottest time of the day between 10 am - 2 pm. If you must be out, then wear protective clothing and sunblock to prevent sun damage.

Treat Your Skin

Treating and caring for your skin starts with a skin regimen. I recommend an anti-aging skincare line, like Rodan + Fields because of its quality, the results it delivers, and that it's rated as the #1 skincare currently on the market in the United States.

Caring for your skin can also involve avoiding hot showers, baths, or hot tubs on a consistent basis as it can dry out the skin and remove the body's natural oils.

Additionally, avoiding strong soaps or those with perfumes is ideal as well. These too can strip the body of its natural oils that it needs to protect your skin from environmental damage as well as keep the moisture locked in.

As you can see, caring for your skin to reduce the signs of aging doesn't have to be time-consuming, expensive, or difficult. It's all about being mindful of your lifestyle and actions.

Love the skin you're in by taking care of it!
